About the Awards Panel

Recognising excellence in safety engineering through a credible and professionally robust judging process.

The Nigerian Institution of Safety Engineers (NISafetyE) is pleased to introduce the distinguished professionals appointed to serve on the 2026 Safety Engineering Awards Panel of Judges. The Panel comprises experienced engineers and safety professionals with recognised expertise in safety engineering, occupational health and safety, risk management, industry practice, professional leadership, education and competence development.

Chairman of the Panel

Engr. Dr. Kayode V. Fowode is a distinguished safety engineering leader, educator, researcher and international occupational health and safety consultant.

He is a Chartered Fellow of IOSH, a Fellow of the Nigerian Society of Engineers and a Fellow of NISafetyE.

As Chairman, he will lead evaluation and moderation activities and promote consistency in the application of the approved criteria.

How the Judging Process Works

A structured process designed to ensure fairness, consistency and credibility.

Administrative Review

Each nomination is checked for eligibility, completeness and compliance with submission requirements.

Independent Technical Evaluation

Eligible nominations are reviewed against the approved criteria and supporting evidence.

Scoring and Moderation

Judges apply the assessment framework and participate in moderation discussions.

Final Recommendation

The Panel submits recommendations to the NISafetyE Safety Engineering Awards Central Planning Committee.

The Panel is guided by the following principles.

Objectivity:Assessment against approved criteria and evidence.
Independence:Professional judgement without inappropriate influence.
Consistency:Fair application of the approved evaluation framework.
Professional Integrity:Upholding the ethical standards of NISafetyE.
Confidentiality:Protecting nomination information and deliberations.
Evidence-Based Evaluation:Claims must be credible, relevant and verifiable.
Fair Consideration:Every eligible nominee receives appropriate consideration.
Conflict Disclosure:Judges must disclose actual, potential or perceived conflicts.

Protecting the Integrity of the Judging Process

  • Nominees and nominators must not contact judges to discuss or influence nominations.
  • Additional information should be submitted only through the official Awards Secretariat when requested.
  • Judges will not provide private feedback, disclose scores or discuss panel deliberations.
  • All enquiries must be directed to the Awards Secretariat.
